Per the dealer's advertisement, "this car is an early 365 GT 2+2 and was the prototype #1 for the US version built in 1967. The previous owner also reports that the car was the Paris Auto Show car, and like many 2+2’s the car."
Chronology
Sold to a member of the Pinkerton family in New York (of Pinkerton Security). (Repainted Burgundy prior to the sale.)
January 2009, the valves were adjusted, new spark plugs and ignition wires fitted, the distributor caps serviced and the ignition rotors replaced. The brakes were bled, the soft lines replaced, and new seals fitted. This work was performed at GTC by Harley Cluxton.
February 2009, a new Ansa exhaust system, new sway bar mounts, and new sway bar bushings were fitted. The carburetors were also adjusted at this time. This and subsequent work was performed by Johannes Huwyler at Dino Motors.
October 2009, the radiator was recovered, the hoses replaced, the fan motors were repaired and serviced, and the air conditioning condenser was repaired. All told, the car has had over $13,000 in mechanical work since the beginning of 2009.
August of 2009, the car was invited to be shown at the Quail Motorsports Gathering in Monterey, and the owner has put several thousand miles on the car over this period, ensuring that it is sorted and ready to use at this time.”
